Life on the Isla- the Wonderful Adventures of Alisop!

Welcome back to the wonderful adventures of Alisop! (My Kuna name= Alisop, means one who brings children into the world) I am currently re-adjusting to a new found culture shock upon returning to life on the island after I took a mini ‘work’ trip last week. I’ll give you a ride through the incredible trip that brought me to the jungle of Panama, a private luxury island in Kuna Yala, and back to the nitty gritty Panama City life before I end with a gratitude inducing dose of the reality of Kuna Yala’s extreme poverty. This week’s vacation was all provided by a mutual friend of Teysha, Jimmy Stice. He is the CEO of Kalu Yala, a sustainable community development...

Life on the Isla -- settling in to Ustupu!

My new love: Ustupu, Kuna Yala! #nofilter (hehe) Nuedi (Hola/Hello) Ani (Amigos/Friends)! I have spent the past week and a half in the beautiful Kuna Yala island of Ustupu and am still in disbelief that it has only been that long and more importantly that this is my new home, complete with a sand floor hut and zero English, for the next 2 months. Each day feels like several have passed even though my schedule is not nearly as jam packed as I am accustomed to in the states. This place truly is paradise with beautiful caribbean water, mountains, hammocks everywhere, and many a passing smiles. While this week has been a roller coaster of emotions from initial extreme culture...

Liberate Your Sole Tour - Episode 3

Another 10 days down and another 5 wonderful places on our tour! It's absolutely crazy how fast this tour is flying by. We started July in Carlsbad, New Mexico. We had a wonderful girl, Meg, who had purchased a pair of boots and some jewelry from us, and was kind enough to invite us to have a trunk show in Carlsbad. This was really the first time we had done a trunk show with someone we had literally never met before and in a city we had never been to. Meg, her husband, and her sister made us feel right at home. Her friends all came and were so sweet and excited and supportive-- by the end of the night...

Teysha's 1 year anniversary!!!

When did Teysha begin...? It could be said that Teysha begun 24 years ago when we were born. Or 8 years ago when we became close friends and co-dreamers on an environmental science trip to Hawaii. Or 6-8 years ago when we each made our first solo trip to Central America. Or 3 years ago when we were both doing life-changing internships and study abroad in the Americas. Or 2 years ago when we graduated from school, or in January 2012 when we set off to Panama, or in May 2012 when we had our first pop up shop. We're calling May the anniversary, but it's all relative :) The point being that Teysha, or the idea of Teysha...

Luz y Fortaleza

Teysha + Luz y Fortaleza We have been searching for an ally in Panama, someone who shares our vision, desire to empower, and love for traditional art. Several months ago, we were introduced to Michael, Rodelick, Sue, and Augustin of Fundacion Luz y Fortaleza Indigena (Indigenous light and Strength). From the moment we first spoke, we could feel very strongly that we had met our partners, the people who shared our dream of holistic prosperity, and who wanted to make it happen. Last week, we had the honor of meeting the Foundation in Panama. We journeyed together to the island of Ustupu, the most populated island in Kuna Yala and the home of Sue and Agustin, and Rodelick. The island...
